Hi guys, we’ve moved servers, hence the downtime over the last couple of days. All back now!
Another Dungeons & Dragons themed board game, but this one looks more like Lords of Waterdeep than Legend of Drizzt, which is great for me because Lords of Waterdeep is one of my favourite board games of all time.
I’ve decided to start a new type of article on our website. It’s basically going to feature upcoming board games that have caught my interest. So to start things off, the upcoming game by Fantasy Flight Games, Android Mainframe, has attracted my attention.
The last few spoilers for Decree of Ruin are out so it’s time for me to do a quick rundown of the non-signature cards (for warlord reviews, go here for Broderick Worr or Commander Starblaze), give them a rating between 1-5 and then have that held against me in the coming months. I’m going to make these Quick Look articles a regular thing, so watch this space for more!
I posted a box opening video to Youtube. I figured as I open so many boxes of each new set for singles I might as well let people watch along! I hope you enjoy it, and subscribe to the channel if you want to see more.
After week three of five of our Warhammer 40K Conquest Summer League, the scores are incredibly close. Currently Tim is in the lead on 38 points, with James L and Gareth both only 1 point behind on 37. Then there’s a small drop down to Rik, me and Drew, all of whom still have a chance at the title. Just two more events to go, and with the top four scores only counting, it’s still wide open. Because you’re only allowed to play each Warlord once, could it be that Tim, James and Gareth have already played their favourites and have to play a Warlord they don’t like for the last two tournaments?
Tim 38
James L 37
Gareth 37
Rik 30
Karl 30
Drew 27
Loki 25
Rob 19
Joe 8
JD 8
Owen 7
James G 7
We’ve had a busy few months here at The Games Store. We’ve moved to a much bigger store, five times bigger to be exact, we’re open more hours – 7 days a week, up to 10pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday – and we’re running a lot more events than ever before, now all in house. One of the things that’s suffered during all the changes is this website. Adding content during this busy period has not been a huge priority, and therefore it’s been pretty dormant.
We’ve been discussing ways we can make the website more interesting and relevant and we’ve decided to start adding more gaming content. This will allow you to see what kind of things we get up to in the shop, and hopefully encourage you to come on down and play. It also gives an outlet to the talented writers and videographers we have in our community.
If you have some content that you think would be appropriate for the site, feel free to drop me a line at karl@thegamesstore.com. We’re always looking for new reviews, discussion pieces, strategy, tournament reports, videos etc.
And if you want to see what’s happening at our games club, why not join up at https://www.facebook.com/groups/thegamesstore/? We’re always happy to welcome new or experienced gamers to our group, we enjoy a wide variety of games and we always have people happy to play.
Lots of new stuff in over the last week, including Star Realms back in stock, Noble Knights of the Round Table for Yu-Gi-Oh!, The Resistance and Bang! back in stock, Star Wars YT-2400 and VT-49, Small World expansion Royal Bonus, Gloom 2nd Ed and various Fluxx versions. Not forgetting all the new Cardfight sets and trial decks, a pony, cuddly toy, sliding doors etc.
Phew!
And there’s even more tomorrow.
Excellent Warhammer 40K Conquest tournament on Saturday. I went 2-2 with Chaos/DE but would have gone 3-1 if I hadn’t made a stupid mistake against Tim in my third match.
I lent out my SM/Tau deck to a bloke who went 1-3 with it I think. Then last night I found out SM/Tau had come top two in the World’s finals with similar decks to mine. Last time I lend a deck out lol.
Warhammer 40K Conquest LCG has been incredibly popular here in Lincoln. The game is easy to learn but subtle and has lots of decision points. Being an LCG you don’t have to worry about searching for elusive cards!
